 Contemporary realistic fiction is one of the most important genres for me because in these books we will find stories based on the reality of their life. Most of the topics in this genre are about immigration, divorce, and many other personal and social concerns. While picking the right books for this post was very mindful because while reading both books, I could identify myself with their stories. Her melodies are just perfect, I grow up listening to this music and dancing to all her hits. the story behind these pages is the reality of a person that lives in a Hispanic country.   Folklore books are fictional stories that have been in our childhood generation to generation. Two of my favorites folklore books are Caperucita Roja – Red riding hood, and El Patito Feo – The ugly duckling. Those stories came to my mind at first because I grow up reading them. Both books have been translated into more than 100 languages. The ugly duckling was originally written by Hans Christian Andersen and first  published  in 1843. Today, I will refer to the ugly duckling retold by Jerry Pinkney. The story is similar to the original one, the pictures of this book are so colorful and look very elaborated.   Choosing a good book is a big decision. Today I would love to introduce to you these three books I have chosen just by reading the title and after reading them I got fascinated.   Your future is bright by Corey Finkle & Shelley Couvillion. It is a book that for sure has to be in a classroom because it talks about the amazing future that is waiting for all of us. It explains different perspectives of life and many professions that could be an incredible option as a career. The vocabulary is totally appropriated for any kind of children, especially for middle school ones. Pictures are inspiring and encourage kids to be optimistic and being focused on their dreams.   I have a little godson; he lives in Venezuela. Last week I was talking to his mom just to make sure everything was ok, and she told me that Jose has an imaginary friend. This friend goes with him everywhere; they cook, play, go to school, go nite nite, take a shower, and do everything together. My friend was so worried about this because she said that sometimes it is too much. After a couple days I went to the bookstore to find a good book to do the assignment and while I was looking at the shelf, a book called “The Adventures of Beekle, the unimaginary friend” poped out. I told myself: This is the book I will get! not just for my homework but for my godson and his mom.   Leave me alone !   Sometimes we all need a little space just to organize our lives and have a bit of quietness. No noises, just us living our best moment; looks like even grandmothers need it too. As soon as I read the title of the book, I could predict the story. The front cover picture is about an old woman with an exhausted face ( looks like she really needs time for herself), the size of the title and the grandma can give you an idea of the story because they talked by themselves.    While reading the book, I could appreciate that each image related to the story, which is an important characteristic of picturebooks. It is a story about a grandma with so many grandchildren and they were all in her house. At some point, grandma got tired because they were very noisy. As you know, I am from Venezuela! A beautiful country located in South America. Sadly, I have to admit that in our country teachers do not motivate you to read or even at home it is not a “must to do thing” before going nite nite. I have never remembered my mom or dad reading me a book before going to bed, or just having a trip to the library. It is just something we are not used to do. I remember my first Sunday in this country with my host family (I was an aupair – Cultural Exchange Program), we went to church in the morning and in the afternoon my host mom told me: Hey Lizeth let’s go to the library. I was like: What? Sunday, library? … Ok! After that day I realized all the time I have been losing in my life without a book. That does not mean I have never read before, well probably yes!
