Time for bed, Written by Mem Fox and Illustrated by Jane Dyer. It's time for bed, little foal, little foal, I'll whisper a secret, but don't tell a soul. I believe I have read this book more than a hundred times, and every time I read I enjoy it more and more. Time for bed is a picture book perfectly combined with incredible pictures of animals. Each page has beautiful prose, matching the words with each other to create delightful poetry. The book includes important information about animals and how we call animals when they are babies, reinforcing on kids new vocabulary and new expressions. One of the things that I love about this book is that you can read it or sing it. A perfect book to read for kids, especially at an early age. As you know, I am from Venezuela! A beautiful country located in South America. Sadly, I have to admit that in our country teachers do not motivate you to read or even at home it is not a “must to do thing” before going nite nite. I have never remembered my mom or dad reading me a book before going to bed, or just having a trip to the library. It is just something we are not used to do. I was like: What? Sunday, library? … Ok! After that day I realized all the time I have been losing in my life without a book. That does not mean I have never read before, well probably yes! That I remember I read 6 books during my first 27 years of life. But I have good news for you, it is never too late to start something you know you better have to do. Today, rather than critici...
Contemporary realistic fiction is one of the most important genres for me because in these books we will find stories based on the reality of their life. Most of the topics in this genre are about immigration, divorce, and many other personal and social concerns. While picking the right books for this post was very mindful because while reading both books, I could identify myself with their stories. Dreamers My name is Celia written by Monica Brown and illustrated by Rafael Lopez. Celia Cruz is the most known Cuban singer. Her melodies are just perfect, I grow up listening to this music and dancing to all her hits. the story behind these pages is the reality of a person that lives in a Hispanic country. Celia used to help her mom by taking care of her siblings and hard work to support her family. We also find a real description of the Cuban main dishes that her family used to make. After years she got married and moved to Mexico, leaving the dictatorship of Fidel Castro. Celia c...
